Melissa comes to Partners with over 10 years of classroom experience. She has served in the Alum Rock Union Community for most of her teaching career. Melissa worked at a former Partners in School Innovation school and through collaborating with her School Innovation Partner and utilizing the ROCI process she saw a dramatic and effective change in her own teaching and in adult practice at her site. She was empowered by this process and became a leader at her site. Melissa has been a mentor for beginning teachers and led Professional Development Training at her site and district-wide. She has experience with incorporating technology in the classroom and blended learning. She participated on the leadership team at her school and as part of team, transitioned her elementary school to a dependent public charter to better serve the community. Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from San Diego State University and received her Teaching Credential from the University of California at Monterey Bay. She recently received her Online Blended Teaching certification from the Leading Edge Certification. Melissa is married and has one child. Recently, Melissa and her family have enjoyed touring the Pacific Northwest, its many breweries and museums.
