Partners in School Innovation Collaborates to Establish the National Coalition for Improvement in Education (NCIE), Strengthening Commitment to Educational Improvement

Partners in School Innovation continues investing in its commitment to advancing educational improvement by being a key contributor to the establishment of the National Coalition for Improvement in Education (NCIE), housed at the High Tech High Graduate School of Education (HTHGSE).

NCIE’s mission as a national hub building on the momentum of improvement work across the country is to “champion and amplify the use of improvement methods to transform educational systems so all young people learn and thrive, especially those at the margins.”

The coalition endeavors to accelerate results on persistent problems, convene and connect a vibrant and diverse community of improvers, and advance the field of improvement in education. One of the ways we’ll achieve this is through bringing together educational leaders across practice, research, and policy.

Starting in 2026, NCIE will be taking responsibility for the Carnegie Summit on Improvement in Education (reenvisioned as the National Summit on Improvement in Education) which the Carnegie Foundation has hosted in the previous eleven years. These improvement summits are innovative gatherings for champions of equity in education and serve as key rallying points for the field.

During this transition year from Carnegie to NCIE as hosts, two smaller Summits will take place:

  • Improvement Summit: Spring: March 30 to April 1, 2025 in San Diego, CA, at the High Tech High Graduate School of Education

  • Improvement Summit: Fall: early November 2025 in Nashville, TN (more details TBD)

NCIE members comprise the Improvement Summit Planning Team, and we are proud to be among this group of organizations dedicated to providing opportunities for active learning and strategy sharing to generate lasting change for students, teachers, and communities.
