Partners Presents at CABE 2024 on Anti-Bias Anti-Racist (ABAR) School Journey
The Partners in School Innovation team is excited to be joining school and university personnel, parents, and other individuals who work with all students (specifically English learners and biliteracy students) at the annual California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) conference in Anaheim from February 21-24, 2024!
This year’s theme is “Strength in Unity: Embracing the Tapestry of Our Diversity, Cultivating Our Heritage, and Celebrating Our Multilingualism.”
Come see Senior Improvement Partner Paula Espinoza lead a session with educators from Christopher Elementary School, Oak Grove School District in San Jose – Marie Mabanag, Eva Marcoida, and Karin Mendoza (Vieira).
Their equity and multiculturalism-focused session, “An Anti-bias, Anti-racist Journey: Leading a School Through Transformational Change,” will be highly interactive and feature tools, activities, and strategies to help schools become a more welcoming, affirming community.
Becoming anti-bias and anti-racist is ongoing intentional work and is very beneficial to a school community. Focusing on these issues enables educators to develop more culturally responsive curricula and teaching practices. It also allows educators to recognize and understand their own biases and attenuate them in order to create better relationships with students, colleagues, and families from different cultural backgrounds.
Session participants will interact directly with the presenters and each other as they learn about the school’s professional learning journey, enabling conditions, and outcomes. We hope you’ll join us in Anaheim next month!
